Try Again Later on Instagram: Reasons why you see this error

Instagram tries to keep the platform up-to-date and constantly rolls out new features that often lead to various errors.

‘Try Again Later’ issue is something similar to the Instagram action block bug we’ve recently talked about.

The main reason why you encounter this problem is that you’ve been too spammy lately: liked lots of posts, commented on many people, followed/unfollowed too many Instagrammers, or sent multiple direct messages within a short span of time. Instagram think you’re a bot and wants to prevent spam-like activity by restricting your actions.

Actions that Instagram may consider spammy are:

  • Mass liking, mass commenting, mass following/unfollowing
  • Same comments under all posts (consisting of emojis, one word, etc).
  • Unsafe usage of automation tools.

Check our guide on how to use automation and not get banned on Instagram.

For each account, depending on their age and activity, Instagram has its own daily and hourly action limits. Once they’re exceeded, you might start getting error messages, including the Try Again Later one.

Users who don’t utilise any third-party tools for mass liking or commenting but doing all such actions manually can also get such a warning from Instagram.

Other reasons why you might see the Try Again Later error:

  • Your IP address is blocked by Instagram.
  • Your IMEI smartphone number is blocked.
  • You have violated the Instagram community guidelines.
  • Your account or posts are reported by other users.

How to fix Try Again Later error on Instagram

In order to get rid of the issue, try the following steps. Note that neither of these methods can guarantee you a 100%-result since the reasons why you see the error are different. Yet, it’s definitely worth a try.

  1. Report a problem.

When you see this error message, Instagram often gives you an opportunity to report a problem if you think your actions are restricted by mistake.

If the error message doesn’t have this option, you can report a problem right from your account.

Here’s how to do it: Head over to your account and tap on three lines at the top right corner of the screen.

Then click Settings, then Help. Find Report a Problem and click on it. You will see a list of issues you can report. Choose the one you need and click on it. We recommend you choose Something isn’t working because this option allows you to describe the issue to the Instagram staff.

Instagram will review your request and will get in touch with you shortly. It may take up to several days.

2. Change Instagram password on your smartphone and/or PC.

To do so, Tap on the account icon, which is in the lower corner of the page.

Then, tap on the three lines at the top right of the screen. Next, tap on “Setting.” Tap on the “Security” option. Tap on “Change password”.

Enter your current password in the first box, then type the new password in the second and third box. Next, tap on “Done.”

To change the Instagram password on a desktop website, take the following steps:

  1. Open your Instagram account in a web browser
  2. Next, click the account icon in the top right of the window
  3. Now click on the gear-shaped icon on the page
  4. Click on “Change password”
  5. Enter your current Instagram password, then type the new password
  6. At last, tap on “change password”

3. Log out of your account and re-login in several days.

4. Wait out for a couple of hours.

Just leave your account for several hours or even days. The error may disappear. Don’t perform any actions on your account: don’t like, follow, or comment on anyone. If you use any third-party tools for such actions, stop using them as well.

5. Uninstall third-party tools from your Instagram account.

To do so, again open your Settings. Then open Security, find Apps and Websites and tap on it. Press Active and unlink apps that are currently active on your account.

6. Link Instagram to a Facebook page.

Go to Settings, Account and Linked Accounts and click on Facebook. Follow the directions to log in.

7. Log in with a different device and/or IP address.

You can try to switch your Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa. Logging in from a different device (tablet, another smartphone, or PC) can also be helpful.

Now you know how to get rid of the ‘Try Again Later’ error on Instagram. Typically, this error pops up when you misuse automation apps, so to fix the issues, stop any bot-like activity from your account and report a problem to the platform.

In most cases, these two steps alone will help. If not, you have other options to try.
